Perhaps, those of you reading this blog could take a few moments and read this letter issued today to Congress from the EPA Union Coalition. To summarize, it is an unprecedented call to Congress expressing that their powers are desperately needed to curb global warming and declaring that the Federal governments current policies of voluntary and incentive based programs are not sufficient means to reduce GHG’s.
The “green movement” in this country thus far has primarily been a grassroots operation driven by concerned individuals, innovative and pioneering companies, and communities focusing on relocalization. According to this letter, not enough is being done to halt the effects of global warming and they say it’s time for the government to step in and take control of the situation. The questions are (1) will the Government act, (2) what actions will they take, (3) what actions are required/ recommended by the EPA to put us on the path of significantly lowering GHG’s, and last but not least, (4) what affects will any actions have on South Walton County and its residents?
